Oppression Replaced by Opression

Does the abolishment of the apartheid simply mean the establishment of immorality, immodesty and lawlessness. Well, this is the exact transformation that we in South Africa are presently experiencing. Alhamdulillah, while racism, colour discrimination and associated oppressive laws have been scrapped, many vices and evils have been introduced. The recent legalising of gambling and abortion, all under the guise of freedom, are only a few examples of such gruesome evils. Thus far, some 30 000 abortions have been performed at a ‘legal level’ which Islam views as the Mass Murder of 30 000 Innocent Defenceless Victims. Also, squandering corruption and mismanagement of public funds amounting to billions are being exposed every other day.
Further, it is the duty of any government to ‘provide’ safety and security for the masses in return for the taxes that they are burdened with. We have witnessed the abolishment of the death penalty and the introduction of various other leniencies which contribute to and promote crime, resulting in South Africa boasting of one of the highest crime rates in the world. Getting away with murder is no more a mere expression, but a daily occurrence. Finding ourselves in such a plight of lawlessness, we are forced to say that in South Africa, the tables have not changed, rather just the colour of the table cloths. Objections against injustice must continue. Our Imān should not allow us to tolerate such an onslaught. After all Nabi Sallallahu alaihi wasallam has encouraged us that: "The best Jihad is to voice the truth in front of an oppressive ruler."
