All praise is due to Allâh and He is sufficient (for us) and Salâm [Divine peace] be upon His selected servants. |
1. Nabî Sallahu Alayhi wa Sallam said: Verily (all) deeds are (rewarded or accepted) in accordance to intentions and each person will have that which he intended. So, -whoever's migration -was to Allâh and His messenger, his migration was (indeed) to and His messenger and whoever's migration was to (any part of) the world - to acquire it - or to a female - to marry her -, then his migration is towards that which he migrated. |
2. (Islam is) an advising religion, |

The Deen (of Islam) is (totally composed of) advice. |
3. Supplication is the essence of worship. |
4. A person is with whom he loves. |
5. Patience is from Allâh and haste is from Shaytân. |
6. (Discussions in) gatherings (and, in some cases, details of persons involved) is (to be held) in trust. |
7. Bashfulness (or shamefulness) is part of imân. |
8. Wine (and intoxicants) is the vessel (to plenty forms) of sin. |
9. A believer is noble in his gullibility (when deceived) and a Fâsiq [major sinner] is despicable (and/or despised) in Ns) deceit |
10. He who first makes Salâm is free from pride. |
11. The world is a prison for a believer and a paradise for the disbeliever. |
12. The use of the miswâk is a purification for the mouth and a means of pleasing the Sustainer. |
13. Backbiting is worst than adultery (in the sense of its earthly consequences). |
14. (Remaining in) Purification is half of imân. |
15. The Qur'ân is a proof for you or against you. |
16. Bells are the flutes of Shaytân. |
17. Women are the snares of Shaytân. |
18. A thankful eater is like the patient fasting person. |
19. Being economical in expenditure is half of (the means of acquiring) living. |
20. The person repenting from sin is like him who has no sin upon him. |
21. The intelligent person is he who subjugates his soul and works for that (period or amenities of paradise) which follow after death and an incapable person is he who leads his soul to follow his desires and (vainly) has (high) hopes upon Allâh (to fulfil his wants). |
22. Music causes hypocrisy to grow in the heart in the manner that water gives growth to crops. |
23. A trustworthy and truthful trader will be with the Ambiyâ, the Siddiqîn [Highly truthful] and the (in respect of his closeness or rank to these classes of people or m relation to high rewards of these groups the hereafter). |
24. The sign of a hypocrite are three: He lies when he speaks, he contravenes his promise when he promises and betrays when trusted. |
25. The major sins are associating partners with Allâh, disobeying parents, killing a person and a false oath. |
26. Goodness is good character and sin is that which causes uneasiness in the chest and (in regard to which) you dislike that people become aware thereof |
27. A Muslim is he from whom Muslims are safe from his tongue and hands. |
28. A Muslim is he whom people trust upon their blood and money. |
29. A Mujâhid [fighter] is he who fights his inner self towards the obedience of Allâh. |
30. A Muhâjir [migrant] is he who migrates from omissions and sins. |
31. A believer is a mirror to the next believer and a believer is a brother to the (next) believer, defending his (brother's) property and surrounds him (in protection) from behind (i.e. when absent). |
32. The believers are like a single man, if his eyes are in complain, his entire person complains and if his head complains, his entire person complains. |
33. Deferment (of payment) by a wealthy (or financially capable) person is a form of (economic) oppression. |
34. The leader of people during travelling is he who is their servant. |
35. The seeking of knowledge is compulsory upon every Muslim. |
36. The most true dreams are those received in the early hours of the morning. |
37. The seeking of halâl [legitimate] earnings is compulsory obligation after the (previous) obligation (of the forms of worship) i.e. it is continually obligatory. |
38. The beat of you is he who has learnt the Qur'ân and teaches it |
39. Love of the world is the main reason for every sin. |
40. The most beloved deeds to Allâh are those which are most continually done, even if these be little. |
41. Two types of desirous person will not be satiated, a person desirous of knowledge will never be satiated by it and a person desirous of wealth will never be satiated by it. |
42. “The best fighting (Jihad) in the path of Allah is (to speak) a word of justice to an oppressive ruler.” |
43. A single jurist (of Islâm) is harder upon Shaytân a thousand worshippers. |
44. Glad tidings to him who much istighfâr in his record of deeds. |
45. The Sustainer's pleasure is in the father's pleasure and the Sustainer's displeasure is in the father's displeasure. |
46. The right of the elder of the brothers upon the younger of them is like the right of the father upon his son. |
47. All the children of Adam Alayhis salâm make omissions and the best of those making omissions are those who are repentant. |
48. Going out for a little while on the path of Allâh [in Jihad] in the morning or the evening is better than the world and its contents. |
(It should be noted that the Tabligh Jamaat misinterprets this hadîth in its use for their activities.) The translator intends to rectify an error and not to reject their movement. |
49. From the beautiful (attributes) of a person's Islâm is (also) his leaving out that which does not concern him. |
50. Know well! Each of you is a caretaker and each of you is responsible for those under his/her care. |
51. The best of places to Allâh are its Masâjid and the worst of places to Allâh are the markets. |
52. Being alone is better than an evil companion and a good companion is better than being alone. |
53. Death is the gift of a believer. |
54. Allâh's assistance is with those who work as a group. |
55. The example of him who remembers his Rabb -Sustainer and Creator," and him who does not remember is like that (between) the living and the dead. |
56. The best of Zikr [invocation] is "Lâ ilaha illallâh" and the best of Du'â [supplication] is "Alhamdulillâh". |
57. He who has no trustworthiness, has no imân. |
58. The creation cannot be obeyed when there is disobedience to the Creator. |
59. There is no wrong with wealth for him who fears Allâh Azza wa Jalla. |
60. Surely, (even) a little of pride (in ibadah) is Shirk [polytheism]. |
61. Surely, the person consulted is entrusted (with the information). |
62. Surely Allâh the Exalted is beautiful and likes beauty. |
63. Surely, Rizq [sustenance] searches for the servant in the manner that his death searches for him. |
64. Shaytân runs within the human being in the manner that blood flows (within the body). |
65. Indeed each Ummah [generation after a prophet] had a Fitnah [test] and the test of my (Nabî Sallallahu Alayhi wa Sallam's) Ummah is wealth. |
66. Verily a person is deprived of sustenance due to a sin that he committed. |
67. A living soul will not die until it completes its sustenance. |
68. Verily (giving) Sadaqah [voluntary charity] extinguishes the Creator's anger and prevents a bad death. |
69. Surely, does not look at your body forms or your wealth but He looks at your hearts and your actions. |
70. Surely, part of goodness is that you meet your brother with a smiling face. |
71. He who is most close to Allâh is he who first makes the Salâm [salutation]. |
72. Be aware! The world is cursed and all that within it is cursed except the Zikr of Allâh and that which is associated to it and an Âlim [Scholar of Islamic sciences- or a learner (Islamic sciences]. |
73. Surely, (a sign) from among the signs of Qiyamah is that people will vie with each other in the Masâjid. |
74. Verily, the cure to silence (due to not knowing) is to question. |
75. Verily, the grave is a garden from the gardens of Jannah [paradise] or a pit from the pits of the Fire "Hell." |
76. Poverty was almost (equivalent to) kufr [disbelief] (were it not for the protection, in relation to imân, granted by Allâh to Muslims in poverty or weak in imân). |
77. The Fire (of Jahannam [Hell]) has been surrounded with desires and Jannah has been surrounded by disliked matters. |
78. Three things (normally) follow a deceased person. Then two things return and one remains. His family, wealth and deeds follow him (this was in the early era Arabian custom when 'wealth' also referred to camel and other livestock, thus wealth contextually referred to livestock). His family and wealth then return and his deeds remain. |
In our era it would simply imply that wealth does not proceed with the deceased. |
79. A person who severs (relationship) will not enter Jannah. |
80. A believer is not bitten twice from a single hole. |
81. A body nourished with Harâm [illegitimate earnings or prohibited consumables purchased with legitimate earnings as well will not enter Jannah]. |
82. It is not permissible for a Muslim to frighten a Muslim. |
83. The angels do not enter a home in which there is a dog or (uncovered) animate pictures. |
(Unfortunately, people are misled into covering the eyes and regard the balance of the human or animal figure as acceptable. There is no evidence in the hadith for such a concoction.) |
84. None of you has (true) imân, until I am more beloved to him than his father, child and all mankind. |
85. Convey from me, even if it be a single verse (of the Qur'ân). |
86. Be abstinent in this world, Allâh will love you and remain abstinent from that which people have, they will (then) love you. |
87. Be in this world as if you are a stranger or a traveller. |
88. Give the employee his remuneration before his sweat dries. |
89. Differ from the Mushrikîn [polytheists], thicken the beards and remove the moustaches. |
90. Beware of luxuries for verily Allâh's servants do not live in luxuries. |
91. Do not swear the deceased for they have already proceeded to that (deeds) which they have forwarded. |
92. Instruct your children with Salâh when they are seven years old and beat them to perform it when they are ten years old and separate them m their sleeping places. |
93. Enjoin each other upon the (mutual hearing of the memorisation) of the Qur'ân, for verily, by the oath of the Being in whose hands is my life, it is more intense in escaping (the memory) then a camel from its feet cords. |
94. Beware of the supplication of an oppressed person for verily there is no barrier between it and between Allâh. |
95. A male must never remain alone with a female and a female must never travel except with a mahram [male relation whom she cannot marry under any circumstance, e.g. father, brothers, paternal & maternal uncles, husband, father-in-law, nephews.] |
96. Do not adopt anything having a life in it as a target (for an arrow or any projectile of any of weapon). |
97. Fight the mushrikîn with your wealth, your lives and your tongues. |
98. He who does not have mercy on our young, does not respect our elders and he who does not invite towards good and prohibit evil is not of us. |
99. A believer is not he who defames or curses and is neither obscene or foul in speech. |
100. He who humbles himself for Allâh will raise him (i.e., his status) and he who shows pride, will humiliate. |
I01. He who has not thanked people, has not thanked Allâh. |
102. He who does not ask of He (Allâh) becomes angry upon him. |
103. He who remains silent is saved. |
104. He who resembles a nation, he is thus among them. |
105. He who detests my sunnah [prophetic teachings] is not of me. |
106. He who builds, for Allâh, a masjid, Allâh will build a home for him in Jannah. |
107. He, for whom desires goodness, He grants him understanding of the Dîn. |
108. He who holds on to my sunnah at the time of the corruption of my Ummah [followers], he will have the reward of a hundred martyrs. |
109. He who innovates anything in our (religious) affair which is not part of it, then that is rejected. |
110. He who recites a single Salâh [salutation] upon me, Allâh recites Salâh ten times upon him. |
111. He who goes out in search of (Islamic) knowledge, he is in Allâh's path until he returns. |
112. He who omits the Jumu'ah [Friday Salâh] and khutbah [sermon] without any need, he will be recorded as hypocrite in a book that will not be deleted or changed. |
113. He who intentionally attributes a false statement towards me should prepare his seat in the fire. |
114. He who dies and had not made jihad and had neither made an intention in that regard, he dies upon one of the divisions of hypocrisy. |
115. He who seeks knowledge to compete with the Ulema or to argue with the ignorant or to turn the faces of people to him, Allâh will place him into the Fire. |
116. He among you who sees an issue, should change it by his hands and if he cannot do so, then by his tongue and if he cannot do so, then by his heart and that is the weakest imân. |
117. He who sees me in a dream has indeed seen me for, surely, Shaytân does not appear in my form. |
118. He who has made Haj and did not have (sexual) speech and did not do any obscene act, he will return home like the day his mother had given birth to him. |
119. Who sought martyrdom with sincerity will be ranked by Allâh among the martyrs even if he died on his bed. {In his version of the tradition Abd Tahir did not mention the words: "with sincerity".} |
120. When leadership is entrusted to other than those worthy, then await the Hour (of Qiyamah [Day of Resurrection] |
