Feminism

A Product Of Social Disintegration!

"The believers, men and women are protectors of one another; they enjoin what is right and forbid what is evil, they observe regular prayers, give charity and obey Allah and His Messenger."

Feminism is an unnatural, abnormal product of contemporary social disintegration, where moral depravity and sensual indulgence lures the unwary. It evolved in response to the Judaeo-Christian concept of women and gained impetus through the Industrial Revolution and eventually found a home in the Human Rights Movement.

JUDAEO-CHRISTIAN tradition holds that Eve tempted Adam to eat from the forbidden fruit and as a result all women inherited from their mother, both her guilt and guile. Menstruation, pregnancy and childbearing are considered the just punishment for the eternal guilt of the cursed female sex.

Jewish Rabbis listed nine curses inflicted on women as a result of the fall: "To women He gave nine curses and death: the burden of the blood of menstruation and the blood of virginity; the burden of pregnancy; the burden of childbirth; the burden of bringing up children; her head is covered as one in mourning; piercing her ears like a permanent slave or slave girl who serves her master; and as one not to be believed as a witness; and after everything - Death".

The Christian dogma is even more crude: St. Tertullian while talking to his beloved sisters in faith said: "Do you not know that each one of you is an Eve? The sentence of God on this sex of yours lives in this age; the guilt must of necessity live too. You are the Devil’s gateway; you are the unsealer of the forbidden tree; you are the first deserter of divine law;. On account of your desertion even the son of God had to die."

The Industrial Revolution in an attempt to liberate woman from oppressive and draconian policies went to the other extreme and under the guise of empowerment, attempted to "free" women from motherhood, the family and the home. Factories became the centre of activities and women were assigned the least desirable tasks at the lowest possible pay. Marx and Engels the architects of communism, both preached that marriage, home and family were nothing but a curse which kept woman in domestic servitude. The ‘biological tragedy of women’ could only be eliminated by conferring economic equality and freeing her from economic dependence and the shackles of domestic servitude.

The Human Rights movement has less to do with Rights and Wrongs. It is a political tool designed to engineer the most private, intimate and sacrosanct issues of personal lives. The liberation of women within the context of Human Rights is a sweeping plan for sexual anarchy. The cornerstone of this movement is: Reproductive Health: individuals must enjoy the liberties of a safe sex life, the capability to reproduce and the freedom to decide when and how to do so. Hence the UN draft Programme of Action states: "Countries should remove legal, regulatory and social barriers to sexual and reproductive health information ..."

FAMILY DESTRUCTION The empowerment of women is aimed at destroying the traditional family unit as we know it today. It wants to alleviate their responsibilities concerning housework and demands appropriate measures to improve women’s ability to earn income beyond traditional occupations. A woman’s natural duties demands so much time and absorption that opting for a career outside the home would naturally damage her primary role of building human society. The fact is that nature itself has divided human activity into two parts: preservation, procreation and education of the human race, as opposed to security, stability and the acquisition of human needs. The first duty is assigned to women, which is keeping with their physic just as men have been granted a physic in keeping with their natural duties. If the primary processes of life, which are based on biological facts are ignored time will have its revenge …… One cannot assault Nature with impunity.

ABORTION: The draft Programme of Action states: "All countries should strive to make accessible through the primary health care system …. Education and services for pregnancy termination".

If monasticism is a reaction to sexual indulgence, then permissiveness is a declaration of man’s weak determination and subjugation. In yielding to this concept man can find justification to every kind of permissiveness and gratification. Hence, prostitution and obscenity are not only considered lawful but also regarded as necessary.

According to the Quranic view, both men and women are noble creation of Allah Ta’ala whose sublime goal is to complement each other, to worship their Lord, do righteous deeds and abstain from vice and evil. Men and women are endowed with unique physical and emotional capacities, in accordance with the nature and scope of their functions. Men and women are absolutely equal as human beings, but certainly not equi-potential in all aspects of life; in some, women are weaker than men and in others, she is naturally stronger than him. From the Islamic point of view, the question of equality of men and women is meaningless. It is as absurd as comparing a rose to a jasmine. Each has its own beauty, its own scent, colour, shape. Men and women are not the same. Each has particular features and characteristics. Their roles are complementary, not competitive. Man bears all economic responsibility. It is his duty to support his wife even if she is wealthy. In return, her duty is to provide a stable, moral and protective home environment. To consider economic activity as productive and fulfilling and motherhood as inferior and as subjugation is to deny the importance and nobility of the role of woman in the family.

Islam neither suggests that women should be excluded from social life nor does it deprive them of the benefits of communal life of the community, it invites their mutual co-operation in all fields of life, but only within the Code of Conduct prescribed for them by the Shariah.

A civilisation that disregards the natural diversity between men and women and their subsequent role functions abuses women and denies her, her individuality.
