Mufti Nizamuddeen Shamzi |
Mufti Nizamuddeen Shamzi recently, visited South Africa. He hails from Karachi where he is the head of the Darul lfta at Jamia Islāmiyah, Binnori Town. He is also a lecturer in Hadīth at the same institute. He is the khali-fa of the learned saint of our time, Moulana Yusuf Ludhianwi, a khalifa of Sheikh Zakariya (Rahmatullah alaihi). |

| Mufti Saheb has been very active on th jihād front in Afghanistan. He is on the Shūra of the Taliban and also their Mufti. He is consulted in many matters by the Taliban government. On his recent visit to South Africa, he enlightened the Muslims on the back-ground of the Afghan war and particularly the Taliban about whom there are many misconceptions especially due to adverse Western propaganda. |
The facts quoted here about the Taliban are a summary of Mufti Saheb's sentiments and first hand knowledge of the situation. He emphatically reiterated on several occasions that the Taliban are not some new organisation but are the same Ulama and students who participated in the Afghan War from its inception. The only difference is that now they are no longer under the banners of different political parties that were headed by Hikmatyar, Mas’ūd, etc. but have gathered together under one banner to root out the evils from the country. The major-ity of the learned scholars of Pakistan are unanimous about the sincerity of the Taliban and the authenticity of their Islāmic government. |
Radio Iran was the first organisation to announce that the Taliban were American agents in order to discredit them in the eyes of the Muslim world. Iran has been actively, participating in the war against the Taliban by sending their troops and arms to the anti-Taliban factions. The Americans are not assisting the Taliban in any man-ner. In fact the so-called ‘assistance’ which they rendered previously was also not bereft of vested interests. The Stinger missiles that were given to the Mujahidīn were rejects and not fit for the American army. A good dumping place for these missiles was therefore a poor and backward Muslim country in the name of aid! |

| Another important fact he pointed out was that the weapons of the Taliban came from the same sources as those of Hikmatyar’s, Rabbani’s and Sayyaf’s. These weapons were captured from the Russians or left by them in mountain caves. When these political leaders possessed military weapons, the propagandists did not enquire about their sources. However, when, the Islāmic government pos-sesses military weapons in the form, of war, booty, excessive objections are raised. |

Some ignora-muses claim that America is facilitating the Taliban. Is the same America that is harassing religious and pious Muslims around the world by labelling them as Islāmic fundamentals going to support a fundamentalist Muslim government in Afghan in that is endeavouring to implement every Shari injunction. What American objectives are being fulfilled there. |

| Women have been granted their full rights. Any indication to the contrary is malicious propaganda, The government has announced that all those women who were forced to work previously will now be given salaries without having to go to the workplace. No injustice has been perpetrated on anyone. The government prefers that the women remain with dignity as the laws of hijab demand. |
